MATCH REPORT | CRIBBS FC 2-0 WORCESTER RAIDERS

Club Admin12 Feb 2023 - 15:00

Cribbs get the better of Raiders in battle for promotion.

Cribbs completed the double over Worcester Raiders thanks to a 2-0 victory at The Lawns – goals from David Duru and George Kellow.

Raiders had the best of the opening ten minutes, but it would be the home side that struck first as David Duru cut inside from the left and smashed a finish past Young into his bottom right corner.

Despite constant pressure from Raiders they were lacking in the final third, it wasn’t until the 26th minute where Louis Monaghan’s effort which was parried away by Brown, that they had a clear effort on target – Cribbs defence holding resolute.

Five minutes on Cribbs almost found there way through for a second when a mazy run on the left somehow got past about two men unconvincingly before fizzling to Young’s direction and wide.

Raiders came out with intent In the second half to look for an equaliser but once again were lacking in the final third leading the home side to eventually grow back into the game – a long range effort on the 69th minute was struck powerfully but took a deflection wide of Young’s post.

Cribbs put the game beyond doubt just seven minutes later when, in the 76th minute, George Kellow dispatched a penalty past diving Ryan Young after a Cribbs player was bought down a minute before.

Raiders did respond quite well initially to the goal when a minute later a dangerous freekick was drifted into the box but following a scramble it was collected well by Brown – it just wasn’t looking like Raiders day.

Bailey Fuller, who made his debut as a substitute, had the best chance of the half for the away team on the 82nd minute as a shot from distance following some great hold up play by Richard Smith found the clutches, once again, of Brown.

Cribbs took the victory which was a further blow for Raiders promotion push with the top two slowly edging away. Raiders will look to make amends when they complete a double header of away games at FA Vase heroes Corsham Town next Saturday.
