Malvern took the derby points in a game involving a last minute penalty and a Spurrier wonder goal that any Premier League striker would be proud of.
Malvern started the affair the better of the two sides. Spurrier would have the first major chance of the afternoon after just six minutes, cutting inside onto his right before firing just over Young’s goal.
However, totally against the run of play, Raiders took the lead on the thirteenth minute. A ball was played into Cooper who found himself in loads of space allowing him to get a shot away which struck the inside of the post falling to the feet of Halpin to tuck the ball into an empty net.
It would be all Malvern after the goal, a set of chances including a free kick and a header onto the roof of the net came and went all within ten minutes after the goal before they would have the biggest of them all.
Turner found himself in acres of space allowing him to cut inside onto his right and with a goal seemed certain, last ditch defending from Raiders saw the ball blocked for a corner which would come to nothing.
Just fifteen minutes the away side would once again come close. A brilliant cross was floated onto the head of Harry Clark whose header struck the post before bouncing away, Raiders really were riding their luck.
A minute later Raiders should have calmed nerves as Murphy found himself one on one with Blackburn in the Malvern goal only for his long-range chip to drop wide of the post.
Just as the break dawned Raiders luck finally ran out, following a flurry of corners they were punished a goalmouth scramble allowed Hill to eventually smash the ball past Young from a yard out.
Malvern came out in the second half like they did in the first as just four minutes in a back heel from Clark caused panic on the Raiders line before it was somehow booted to safety.
On the Fifty Seventh minute Malvern made this pressure count with a bit of brilliance. Spurrier from around 40 yards out eyed up the goal and took aim firing past a helpless Young into his top left, a great showcase for Step Five of Non-League.
Eighteen minutes later with Raiders first shot of the half Isaac Cooper, maker of the first, fired in a beautiful free kick into Blackburn’s top left corner to level it for Raiders. It was all square with fifteen to play.
However, it would once again be all Malvern after the game, a penalty shout followed ten minutes after the goal before it would be heartbreak at the end with one given allowing a golden opportunity for Malvern to steal the points.
Bates would convert the penalty and send the travelling fans into raptures and to pile the misery, Murphy would see a second yellow and be sent off.
Raiders will look to bounce back as they travel to Wantage Town on the second of January.
