A Bailey Fuller inspired Raiders performance, despite being without manager Karl Gormley, was enough to earn six points out of six as they came from behind to defeat Bradford Town 2-1 at Sixways.
Despite a positive start for the home team it would be the visitors who would open their accounts first as after just five minutes Pearce slotted a finish past Young to cap a great move and spark mass celebrations with the travelling supporters.
Response to falling behind, however, was quick as just three minutes later Bowden was forced into action after some great play by Fuller down the left forcing the Bradford ‘keeper to parry away.
Just four minutes on Jordan Murphy had an excellent chance to level 12 minutes in as he had the goal at his mercy but blazed over from 2 yards out.
As the clock approached the halfway mark in the first half, Isaac Cooper was next to have the chance to level – a drive that thundered off the bar.
Five minutes on, as it hit the 25th minute mark, Raiders their reward and had Bailey Fuller to thank, great work on the right this time allowed him to scuff a shot towards goal and following a deflection or two the ball found its way past Bowden for the Number 7’s first of the afternoon and to lead Raiders level into the break.
Controversy followed at one minute past the hour mark as Harry Stratford applied the finish following a corner but for it to be disallowed for offside by the makeshift linesman who was from the Bradford Town bench in replacement for the original – a decision angrily challenged by the home side but the decision remained.
Substitute Willock had a great chance to let the home side hit the front as his scuffed shot was cleared off the line on the 72nd minute mark.
Bradford had no answer to Bailey Fuller’s excellent drive into the bottom right from the angle just six minutes on and found themselves chasing for an equaliser themselves.
Raiders had the chance in stoppage time to put the game beyond doubt but for once again a great off the line clearance, something that would not matter as they took the three points.
Raiders return to action this Wednesday when they face Roman Glass St George at Sixways (7:45pm Kick-off).
